Viking Gate Parts & Welding in Encino: What to Know First

We provide independent Viking gate parts and welding service throughout Encino, and most hinge, post, and rail repairs are done same week, often in a single visit. Welding happens on site in your driveway, so the gate never leaves your property. You’ll get a written price before any torch gets lit, and that price doesn’t change at the door.

Call (350) 247-4763

If you own a Viking gate and the hinge has torn loose, the post is leaning, or a weld has cracked, you’re on the right page. We’ve been fixing Viking gates in Encino since 2001, long enough to know which parts fail and which ones are worth saving. Call (350) 247-4763 and you’ll get a live person, not a voicemail tree.

How Viking Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Hinge welds cracking at the post on Viking Estate series gates. Viking’s heavier ornamental steel gates put real load on the hinge barrel, especially on sloped driveways common in the Encino hills. The weld at the post is usually the first to go. We grind out the old weld, re-weld with proper penetration, and add a gusset where the design allows it. A new hinge on a cracked post is a waste of your money.
  • Bottom rail rust-through on Viking’s tubular steel models. Encino’s marine layer sits on metal more than people expect, and Viking gates that collect irrigation overspray at the base rot from the inside out. We see it on the lower rail and hinge stile all the time. We cut out the rotted section, weld in new matching steel, and treat the inside of the rail so it doesn’t come back in two years.
  • Sagging gate panels because the post wasn’t set deep enough originally. A Viking gate is heavy. If the original installer set the hinge post in an 18-inch hole instead of a proper 30-plus-inch footing with concrete, that post leans. We straighten or replace the post, set it to the depth the gate actually needs, and re-hang the leaf square. Fix the panel without the post, and you’ll fix it twice.
  • Worn gate rollers on Viking slide gates, especially the Viking G-5 and R-6 series. These rollers take a beating from Encino’s decomposed granite dust, which works its way into the bearings and grinds them out. You’ll hear a rumble and see the gate start to drag. We replace the rollers with sealed-bearing units and check the track for wear at the same time, because a new roller on a chewed-up track is money down a hole.
  • Latch and lock alignment failure after years of settling. Encino’s clay soil expands and contracts with the seasons, and that movement shifts gate posts just enough that the Viking latch no longer lines up. Rather than forcing the hardware, we re-align the latch post, weld a thicker strike plate where needed, and set the keeper so it closes with one hand, every time.

Our Viking Gate Parts & Welding Process

Here’s how a typical Viking gate parts and welding job goes when you call us:

  1. 1
You call, a person answers. We ask what the gate is doing, what brand it is, and when it started. That’s it. No script, no hold music.
  2. 2
We come out and look. In Encino, there’s no trip charge inside the county. We inspect the whole gate, not just the part you called about, because failing hardware usually has a root cause upstream.
  3. 3
We give you a written price. You see the number before we do anything. We tell you whether the existing hardware can be welded and saved or whether a part genuinely needs replacing. If we can repair it, that’s what we recommend.
  4. 4
We do the work on site. The gate stays in your driveway. We weld, grind, fit, and align right where the gate lives, so it’s fitted to your posts, your slope, your ground conditions.
  5. 5
We test the gate under real use. We cycle it by hand and, if there’s an opener, under power. We check the travel, the stops, the latching, the balance. We don’t leave until it works like it should.
  6. 6
You get the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If something we welded or replaced fails within 90 days, one call brings us back. No runaround, no “well, you must have hit it.”

Why Encino Homeowners Call Gatewood Fence & Gate for Viking Work

I’m Hal Gatewood. I’ve been fixing gates in Encino since 2001, and most of that time has been spent right here in the San Fernando Valley. I grew up two blocks from Balboa Park and never really saw a reason to leave. The mechanical side of the trade came from welding and fabrication courses at Los Angeles Pierce College over in Woodland Hills, and those lessons still shape how I approach every hinge, post, and latch.

We’re not an authorized Viking dealer, and we don’t pretend to be. We’re an independent Viking service provider, which means we can tell you straight when a part is worth replacing with OEM and when a quality aftermarket part will do the same job for less. We also service LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing, so if your opener acts up the same week as your hinge, one call covers both. The 90-Day Done Right Promise is stamped on every invoice. The name on the shop is mine, the shop is down the road, and that’s the oldest accountability there is.
