Linear Gate Parts & Welding in Encino: What to Know First

We provide independent Linear gate parts and on-site welding in Encino, usually same week for most hinge, rail, and latch failures. A typical Linear gate repair here runs between $180 and $600 depending on whether it’s a roller swap or a full post re-set, and you’ll know that number before we ever strike an arc because the price is agreed upfront. If you’re reading this because your Linear gate is hanging crooked, dragging, or refusing to latch, call Hal and the crew at (350) 247-4763. We’re the ones who actually show up with the welding rig in the truck and a 90-Day Done Right Promise on the invoice, not hidden in the fine print.

How Linear Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Long before I started Gatewood Fence & Gate in 2001, Linear built a reputation for dependable operators like the APeX and the PRO Access series. The motors are generally solid. What fails around Encino is what fails on every gate that gets opened and closed four or five times a day: the metal and hardware that carry the load. Here’s what we see on Linear jobs specifically, and how we fix it:

  • The Linear PRO Access hinge that’s fine but the post it’s welded to is leaning. This is the classic Encino problem, especially on properties along the hills where the clay soil swells every winter and shrinks every summer. The hinge looks brand new, but the post has moved. We cut the old welds, pull the post straight with a proper re-set, and weld the hinge back on square. A gate sags in the hinge post, not in the middle - and that is where we start.
  • The APeX 4000 chain drive pulling the gate out of alignment because the rail was never anchored right. This one genuinely bothers me. We find a lot of Linear rail work around Encino where somebody bolted through thin tubing with no backing plate. The gate works for six months, then the rail starts to flex and the chain skips. We cut the old bracket off, weld in a 1/4-inch backing plate, and the gate runs true again. Fix the panel without the post and you’ll fix it twice.
  • Broken or seized gate rollers on Linear slide gates running on the original track. Linear slide systems from the SL and VS series use an aluminum track and nylon rollers that were fine when the gate was installed, but twenty years of Encino dust blasting off the hills grinds those rollers down till the gate starts to drag and the operator overheats. We replace the rollers with urethane or steel units, set the gate height correctly, and weld any worn track plates before they tear through.
  • Bottom rail rot from rain splash on Linear cantilever gates. A lot of Encino homes have Linear cantilever gates that were installed right at grade. When the winter rain pools at the bottom rail, the powder coat gets scratched and the steel starts to go. We cut the rotted section out, weld in new steel, and re-coat it so the repair doesn’t just hold - it lasts.
  • Latch strikes that don’t match the gate’s current position. This is a Linear-specific problem more often than you’d think. The gate settles, the operator’s limit switch gets re-set by somebody in a hurry, and suddenly the latch lines up an inch too high. Rather than grinding out the post, we use an adjustable or weld-on strike plate, match it to the latch, and dial the limit switch back where it belongs.

Our Linear Gate Parts & Welding Process

The way I run a Linear gate job in Encino hasn’t changed much in 29 years, except the truck got nicer and the welding machine got quieter. Here’s how it works from the first call to the last wipe-down:

  1. 1
Call (350) 247-4763. A live person answers. Not a voicemail, not a robot. I’ll ask what the gate’s doing, what it sounds like, and whether there’s power at the motor.
  2. 2
We schedule a visit inside a window we’ll actually keep. No trip charge if you’re inside the county. When we show up, the person in the truck is background-checked, uniformed, and either me or a guy who’s worked with me long enough to know his way around a Linear operator with his eyes closed.
  3. 3
Diagnostics on-site. We find the actual point of failure before we touch a wrench. On Linear systems, that means checking the hinge posts, rail alignment, roller wear, and limit settings first - not swapping the operator and hoping.
  4. 4
Parts decision - OEM or quality aftermarket. We stock OEM Linear parts where they matter (limit switches, receiver boards). For structural work like hinges, rails, and brackets, we often fabricate on-site in 1/4-inch steel, which is heavier than what most gates came with from the factory. We’ll tell you what we’re using, why, and what it costs before we break out the welder.
  5. 5
On-site welding and repair. The gate stays in your driveway. We cut, grind, weld, and paint right there so you don’t lose a working entrance for two weeks. Sherrill’s gate on Lindley Ave took us a single afternoon from leaning post to swinging smooth.
  6. 6
Test, walk you through it, and hand you the written 90-Day Done Right Promise. If anything we touched fails inside ninety days, one call brings me back. No runaround, no re-quote. That’s the deal.

What Linear Gate Parts & Welding Costs in Encino

Nobody wants a mystery invoice at the end of the job, so here are the honest numbers for typical Linear gate work in Encino. What moves the price most is whether the post itself is still sound and whether we’re fixing metal or replacing an operator part.

Job Typical Range What’s Included
Gate roller replacement $180-$285 New urethane or steel rollers, track cleaning, height adjustment
Hinge re-weld (1-2 hinges) $200-$340 Grind old welds, re-square gate, new welds, rust inhibitor
Post re-set (1 post) $350-$550 Post straightening or replacement, concrete as needed, hinge re-weld
Rail repair or reinforcement $300-$600 Cut out bad section, weld new steel, backing plates if needed
Latch & strike replacement with weld-on plate $150-$280 Adjustable or weld-on strike, hardware, alignment, limit check

Keep in mind: $40 off any repair over $200, and 10% off for seniors and veterans on every job, not just for new customers. The price we quote is the price you pay, agreed before any work starts. Call (350) 247-4763 for an exact number - estimates are free.

Why Encino Homeowners Call Gatewood Fence & Gate for Linear Work

There are companies in this valley that would rather sell you a whole new gate than weld a hinge. I’d rather fix what’s there, because most Linear gates in Encino were built well and just need the metal work done right. We carry parts or can fabricate for Linear, and we service LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing as well - so if the operator turns out to be fine but the structure is shot, we’re not going to tell you to rip out a gate that still has 15 years in it. The 90-Day Done Right Promise is written on every job, and my name is on every invoice. Hal Gatewood, same shop, same phone, since 2001. The name is on the shop, and the shop is down the road - that is the oldest accountability there is.
