DIY or Call Us?
There are two safe things you can check on a BFT keypad or intercom before you spend a dime. First, check the breaker or the power supply to the gate operator; if the whole gate is dead, the problem is power, not the keypad. Second, look at the keypad face. If the buttons are cracked or the housing is full of water, you’ve found the problem and you can stop there.
After that, I’d leave it alone. These units run on low voltage, so the shock risk is low, but the wiring inside a BFT entry panel is tight and easy to damage if you’ve never opened one. More importantly, a miswired keypad can send a constant open signal to the gate, and now you’ve got a gate that won’t stay closed.
